Lin's Is Closed
This is an archive post originally written February 13th, 20121. My summary was an emotional summation and is included here for posterity.
I went home to visit my dad in my hometown to have lunch and relax. While there, I learned that one of my favorite restaurants of all time, Lin’s, is now closed. It had been around since way before I was even born. It was such an institution and one of the few stable, reliable and comforting parts of life. It was always there, and always good. Now…it’s gone.
“Change is neither good or bad. It simply is.”
The emotions I wanted to capture here were sadness and loss. It's a restaurant, sure, and there are thousands of them opening and closing every week, but this was so much more than that to me. I used black and white to create starkness and timelessness, and effected in PS to crush as much of the focus as possible on isolation and the lack of all warmness.
I'm hopeful that one day I'll find another place that will have as much meaning to me and feel like home. Until that day, I'll have to hold on to the memories and life and times of what this represented.
As time goes on, so does life.
As life goes on, so does death.
